The newest fertility enhancing technique is known as EVIE and is a pump that slowly releases sperm gradually over a period of several hours. EVIE more closely emulates nature and has been shown to double pregnancy rates over traditional IUI, making it more cost effective than in-vitro fertilization and an appealing choice for couples who have trouble conceiving and have limited financial resources. How does EVIE work? The EVIE catheter is placed in the cervix by Dr. Denker after the sperm is prepared in the laboratory at the Palm Beach Fertility Center. A tiny pump within a disposable catheter slowly releases the sperm into the uterus and the device is attached to the patient’s leg, who may then leave the clinic and go home or go shopping. After the sperm is released over a 3 to 4 hour period, the woman pushes a button, releases the device and disposes of it in the trash. No visit to the doctor is required!
