If you are trying to get pregnant and haven’t had success, you may be experiencing female factor infertility. About one-third of the time, the female partner has some issue that has prevented a couple from conceiving. At Palm Beach Fertility Center, Dr. Mark Denker has the expertise to diagnose and treat female infertility.

A Closer Look at Female Infertility

Often, female infertility occurs from one of the following factors:

Age

In your 20s, you have a 20 percent chance of conceiving during a given cycle; in your 30s, you have a 10 to 15 percent chance. By age 40, that number falls to 5 percent.

Ovulatory Dysfunction

In order to get pregnant, your body must release an egg that can be fertilized by healthy sperm. If you don’t regularly ovulate, the odds of conception decrease. Sometimes, the ovaries stop producing eggs, a condition known as premature ovarian failure.

Uterine Problems

Fibroids are the most frequent uterine abnormality. These benign muscle tumors can make implantation and pregnancy development difficult.

Tubal Damage

About 90 million women worldwide suffer from endometriosis, a condition where uterine tissue grows outside of the uterus. Endometriosis can cause adhesions and scarring, which makes it hard for the egg to travel through the fallopian tubes and reach the sperm.

Hormonal Issues

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) affects roughly one in 10 women. Common symptoms of PCOS include high levels of male hormones, obesity, excessive facial hair and irregular menstruation.

Though you may feel frustrated, Dr. Denker can complete a full evaluation to determine the reasons for your struggle to conceive. With infertility treatment, you can achieve your goal of parenthood.
