Advanced IVF Protocol
Estrogen Androgen Priming Protocol in Boca Raton & Aventura
Advanced hormonal priming to optimize follicle development for poor responders

Understanding EAPP
- Previous poor response to IVF stimulation
- Diminished ovarian reserve (low AMH, high FSH)
- Poor antral follicle count
- Advanced maternal age
- History of canceling IVF cycles due to poor response
- Poor egg quality in previous cycles
- Shortened menstrual cycles suggesting declining reserve
- Need to maximize egg yield before anticipated decline
Procedure Overview
Baseline Assessment
Comprehensive evaluation including ultrasound, hormone levels (FSH, AMH), and review of previous IVF response to determine candidacy for EAPP.
Priming Phase (Cycle Before IVF)
Begin estrogen and androgen supplementation during the luteal phase or early follicular phase of the cycle preceding your IVF stimulation. This typically lasts 2-3 weeks.
Monitoring
Regular ultrasounds and blood work to assess follicle development and hormone levels, ensuring optimal timing for transition to stimulation.
IVF Stimulation
Begin standard ovarian stimulation medications (gonadotropins) following the priming phase. The goal is improved follicle recruitment and development.
Egg Retrieval & Standard IVF
Proceed with egg retrieval and subsequent IVF laboratory procedures (fertilization, embryo culture, transfer) as with conventional IVF.
Potential Advantages
May improve ovarian response in poor responders
Potentially increases the number of eggs retrieved
May enhance follicle synchronization for more uniform development
Could improve egg quality in some patients
Reduces cycle cancellation rates for poor responders
Evidence-based protocol with published research support
Can be tailored to individual hormone levels and response patterns
Minimally invasive - oral or transdermal medication administration
Limitations & Considerations
Requires extended treatment timeline (begins cycle before IVF)
Not all patients respond; outcomes vary based on individual factors
Success is not guaranteed; pregnancy rates depend on multiple variables
Requires careful monitoring to adjust hormone dosages
May not be suitable for patients with certain hormone-sensitive conditions
Additional medication costs compared to standard protocols
Potential side effects from androgen supplementation (acne, hair growth changes)
Limited benefit for patients with severely depleted ovarian reserve
Best results seen when initiated before significant reserve decline
Should be combined with realistic counseling about age-related success rates
