Fertility Treatments
Ovulation Induction in Boca Raton & Aventura
Medication to stimulate egg production for women with irregular or absent ovulation

Ovulation induction is one of the most common and effective fertility treatments for women who are not ovulating regularly or at all. By using oral or injectable medications, we stimulate your ovaries to produce and release mature eggs, giving you the opportunity to conceive naturally or through IUI.
At Palm Beach Fertility Center, we carefully monitor your response to medications through ultrasounds and blood work, adjusting your treatment as needed to maximize success while minimizing risks like multiple pregnancies.
Who Benefits from Ovulation Induction?
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
Women with PCOS often don't ovulate regularly and respond well to ovulation induction medications
Irregular or Absent Periods
If your cycles are unpredictable or missing entirely, medication can help regulate ovulation
Unexplained Infertility
Sometimes stimulating more eggs improves pregnancy chances even when ovulation seems normal
Anovulation
Complete absence of ovulation due to hormonal imbalances or other factors
The Ovulation Induction Process
Baseline Testing
We perform initial ultrasound and blood work at the start of your cycle to ensure your ovaries are ready for stimulation.
Medication
You take oral medication (Clomid or Letrozole) or injectable hormones (gonadotropins) to stimulate egg development. Treatment typically lasts 5-7 days.
Monitoring
Regular ultrasounds track follicle growth. Blood tests measure hormone levels to predict optimal timing for conception.
Triggering Ovulation
When follicles reach mature size, a trigger shot (hCG) causes the egg to release within 36-40 hours.
Timed Intercourse or IUI
We time intercourse or perform IUI during your fertile window to maximize pregnancy chances.
Common Ovulation Induction Medications
Clomiphene Citrate (Clomid)
Oral medication taken for 5 days, typically starting on day 3-5 of your cycle
Letrozole (Femara)
Often more effective than Clomid for PCOS patients; oral medication for 5 days
Gonadotropins (FSH/LH)
Injectable hormones for more controlled stimulation; requires closer monitoring
hCG Trigger Shot
Injection to trigger final egg maturation and release at the optimal time
Monitoring & Safety
Your safety is our top priority. We use advanced monitoring protocols to maximize your success while minimizing risks.
Ultrasound & Blood Work
We perform frequent transvaginal ultrasounds to measure follicle size and number throughout your cycle.
Blood tests measure hormone levels (like estradiol), helping us adjust medication dosages in real-time to ensure a safe and effective response.
Ovarian Hyperstimulation Risks
Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS) can occur when ovaries over-respond to fertility medications.
Symptoms may include bloating, abdominal pain, and nausea. While mild cases are common, we monitor closely to prevent severe complications.
Prevention Strategies
- Starting with conservative medication doses
- Frequent monitoring appointments
- Cycle cancellation if too many follicles develop
