What is Recurrent Pregnancy Loss?

Recurrent pregnancy loss is defined as 3 or more consecutive spontaneous miscarriages occurring during the first 22 weeks of gestation. Each pregnancy is different; therefore, it is essential to consult a physician if you think you have experienced any of the following:

  • Any pregnancy loss after three months of gestation
  • Two consecutive miscarriages during the first three months of pregnancy
  • Pregnancy loss after age 35

What Factors Affect Miscarriage?

Some common factors causing recurrent miscarriages include chromosomal abnormalities, endocrine dysfunction, immunologic conditions, and structural abnormalities. Many other factors can cause pregnancy loss, and understanding the issues which increase your chance of losing a pregnancy can often help you to overcome them.
