PICSI Sperm Selection Procedure in Boca Raton & Aventura

Incorporating New Fertility Techniques in Our Fertility Clinics

When your doctor has determined there is a problem with the natural fertilization process in a woman's body, don’t be alarmed. At Palm Beach Fertility Center, we offer a treatment method called PICSI, where the natural sperm selection process can be successfully mimicked. The best sperm are typically selected during this process, which involves many different steps to achieve successful binding. Once binding occurs, the sperm becomes activated and begins the process of penetrating through the egg membrane in an attempt to fertilize the egg itself.

PICSI may be indicated in the following situations:

  • Males with high sperm DNA fragmentation
  • Patients with a previous history of poor embryo development
  • Patients with a previous history of low or poor fertilization
  • Patients with repeated implantation failure
  • Patients with recurrent pregnancy loss

Understanding ICSI & Sperm Selection

During conventional In-Vitro Fertilization and ICSI, sperm are selected under the microscope based on their appearance and motility. This makes visual criteria the main criteria for selection. However, this type of test does not give us enough information about the sperm's functionality or its fertilizing abilities. With PICSI, we are able to test sperm for their function and allow our embryologist to select the best possible sperms for the ICSI process.

Complex Testing Procedures in Palm Beach

We understand that many of these tests can seem confusing if you do not have medical training in the field of fertility. The good news is that we consider each patient's education to be a priority, and we are committed to ensuring you understand the benefits and details of any test we recommend.

We are now offering PICSI sperm selection at Palm Beach Fertility Center. If you are interested in IVF with PICSI and learning about how this form of testing can aid your ability to conceive, we would be happy to meet with you to answer your questions. Please call our office at (888) 819-5177.
