Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) in Boca Raton & Aventura

Helping Patients Achieve Conception

If you and your partner are committed to getting pregnant and overcoming male infertility problems, ICSI with the help of a trained fertility specialist may be the answer. Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection, or ICSI, is a procedure that consists of taking your partner's sperm and inserting it directly into your eggs for the IVF (in-vitro fertilization) process. While this may seem complicated, Dr. Mark Denker at Palm Beach Fertility Center has been in practice for more than 25 years and is an expert in the area.

The ICSI procedure is ideal for partners experiencing any of these problems:

  • The inability of sperm to fertilize an egg or penetrate the egg
  • Low sperm count or motility as a result of any cause
  • Previous Failed Fertilization in an IVF cycle
  • Preimplantation Genetic Testing

How Does ICSI Work?

During ICSI, each of the retrieved eggs is placed in a dish and held still with gentle suction while a single sperm is carefully inserted into the cell using a needle. The next day it is possible to determine which eggs have been successfully fertilized. We are very familiar with this process and can ensure that you understand what to expect and are thoroughly educated as to how ICSI can help you.

ICSI is also useful for couples where the male patient has low sperm count or poor sperm morphology since only one sperm is required to fertilize each egg. It may also be recommended for couples who have had little or no egg yield or poor fertilization success in the past, since there is greater control of fertilization.
