When you are struggling to get pregnant, you may feel overwhelmed and discouraged. This time can be especially difficult if friends, co-workers and family members are announcing impending arrivals or welcoming their own bundles of joy. Dr. Mark Denker and the team at Palm Beach Fertility Center are here to provide the support you need and the answers you are looking for so that you can achieve your goal of parenthood.

Making the Best of the Situation

Don’t ignore the problem

If you are otherwise healthy and have tried to get pregnant for 12 months (six months if you are over 35), make an appointment with a fertility specialist. Wishing, hoping or relaxing won’t address any fertility issues such as ovulatory dysfunction or low sperm count.

Stick to the facts

Though you may not have the baby you desire, take heart in the knowledge that about 80 percent of couples who work with a reproductive endocrinologist end up conceiving and having a successful pregnancy. Dr. Denker uses proven therapies such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in-vitro fertilization (IVF) to help our patients get pregnant.

Set limits

During this period, treat yourself with kindness. If family gatherings, baby showers, and christenings are too much, graciously decline these invitations. Those closest to you will understand and want to offer you the compassion that you need.

Find support

Look for online message boards or local support groups where you can share your stories. Listening to other people in a similar situation can provide a great deal of comfort.

Lean on your partner

You may feel tempted to shut each other out, but this can cause damage to your relationship. Be honest with one another about your feelings so that you can get through this experience and come out stronger.

While dealing with infertility can be difficult, Dr. Denker has the skills and expertise to diagnose and treat fertility problems. We are committed to helping you and your partner create or expand your family, so don’t give up on your dreams.
